#Overview

Facilitating community development, engagement, and activation in a fast growing greenfield residential community in Flagstone.

Plan C developed and assisted in the implementation of two Community Engagement, Development and Action Plans to improve social connections and community well-being in the new residential community of Peet Flagstone.

These plans provide the framework for the delivery of a community development and activation process, and inform decision making about priorities over a three year implementation program.

#Methodology

Plan C undertook engagement with over 350 stakeholders in the process of preparing the 2016-2019 and 2022-2024 Flagstone Community Engagement, Development and Activation Plans.

1

Engaged with residents and other stakeholders through surveys, information sessions and workshops to understand aspirations and ascertain desired activities and events for the Flagstone community.

2

Organised, attended and evaluated community events and activities on behalf of Peet and provided a communication link between the Flagstone community and the developer.

3

Attended meetings with the Flagstone Community Association and Flagstone Stakeholder forum, building relationships with community members, seeking feedback on the plans, and providing updates on activities and events.

4

Advocated for and worked on establishing essential community facilities/services (e.g. public transport, community hub) by undertaking community engagement, analysis and a co-design process for the community hub.

5

Formed partnerships between the Logan City Council, Peet, State Government and project stakeholders to facilitate alignment of community development activities.

6

Provided reporting to Peet and the State Government on community development activities and outcomes. Delivery of annual surveys has measured community values and perceptions to a range of local initiatives, informing future strategies and measuring the success of the program.

#Key Outcomes Achieved

Residents have an active say in how their community evolves thanks to the stronger connection between the residents of Flagstone and Peet.

Increase in the delivery of community-led programs and events as community groups such as the Flagstone Community Association increase capacity and capability with the support of Peet.

The early implementation of the CEDA Plan in the development process resulted in stronger connections being established between existing and new residents.

Plan C developed a strong connection and trust with the community, built on regular attendance at community meetings, genuine engagement, caring for the needs of community members, attendance and assistance at community events, and advice and guidance to community groups.

The development of these plans has ensured that new residents are engaged and provided with opportunities to participate in local community life through a holistic community development program.

The development of the 2022-2024 CEDA Plan built on the successes of the 2016-2019 plan and ensured community development is aligned with the delivery of physical infrastructure.
