Supporting Ewamian Aboriginal Corporation with professional services and assist realisation of self-determination aspirations for Talaroo, including opening Talaroo Hot Springs to cultural tourism.



Outcomes

  • Securing funding to progress the concept to feasibility.
  • An integrated package of staged works, including repair and upgrade of existing, and development of new infrastructure and services and associated cost estimates.
  • Securing financial contribution from Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) and Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC).
  • Securing major funding from a corporate sponsor to support the development.
Talaroo Tourism's goal is to integrate culture, heritage and unique ecosystem stories in an accessible outback setting. A destination for local, interstate and international visitors to be given insight into Aboriginal ways of seeing, experience Aboriginal hospitality and take away a deeper form of reconciliation between people, culture and place. The geologically unique hot springs forms the nexus of the enterprise with other experiences and accommodation shaping the business narrative around them.

key success factors

  • Delivery of physical works and infrastructure required to protect the Hot Springs, enable their re-opening to commercial tours and provide onsite accommodation in appropriate areas adjacent to the springs into the future.
  • Implementation of a grants and sponsorship grant strategy to secure funding with achievement of significant private and public funding.
  • Comms. approach to appropriately engage with all stakeholders that have an impact on the project.
